Coach & Client Commitments
Career Coaching is planned and executed with a focus on specific, desired results. You and Leslie will begin by deciding the ultimate goals of coaching. Then, we will agree on specific results for each goal. Appropriate measurements are applied to each goal, including follow-up and feedback reports. Actual activities, during the coaching sessions and in between, focus specifically on achieving the agreed-upon goals for the client.

Your Commitments
Take responsibility for focusing the coaching process on the results you care about most.
Assume ownership of your learning.
Use your coach to help you maximize your unique learning style.
Take required actions for learning and reflect on those actions.
Commit adequate time between coaching sessions to work on the results.
Prepare well for each coaching session.
Engage wholeheartedly in the agreed-upon coaching assignments.
Monitor your own results and communicate with Leslie (and other stakeholders) about your accomplishments and the gaps that still exist.
Enlist support to attain results.
Be forthright about what is and isn’t working in coaching sessions.
Monitor your attitudes and thoughts and take responsibility for them.

Client Responsibility
Client understands that coaching is a comprehensive process that may involve all areas of their life, including work, finances, health, relationships, education, and recreation. Client acknowledges that deciding how to handle these issues, incorporate coaching into those areas, and implement my choices is exclusively their responsibility. Client understands and agrees that they are fully responsible for their physical, mental, and emotional well being during coaching calls, including choices and decisions.

Quitting Coaching / Refunds
Clients are purchasing training modules that must be used within 30 days of purchase. Leslie Inc is not responsible for unused sessions due to inability to show up, illness, or catastrophic events. Clients are not purchasing time, but training modules. Therefore un-used time is not considered refundable. Client must show up and appear to appointments to fully redeem their training modules. Only the assigned person of the modules may use them and no one else.

Session/Appointment Times / Reschedule / Cancelled Appointments
Sessions occur at the agreed upon time and date set by the coach, key stakeholders, and client. Appointments must be rescheduled at least 24 hours in advanced. Appointments and meetings that are rescheduled for the same day within 24 hours will be billed beginning at the original appointment time. Session and appointment cancellations are only accepted in cases of medical and personal emergency. Appointments are not rescheduled unless otherwise confirmed by Leslie. Simply stating one is not going to make a scheduled appointment is not rescheduling.Your coach reserves the right to reschedule or cancel appointments at any time. Missed appointments are considered billable time and will not be refunded.

Recording Sessions
Clients are welcome to record their coaching sessions for their own personal purposes but are not permitted to publicly distribute or share sessions as they are considered highly confidential. Leslie Juvin-Acker’s coaching methods are considered intellectual property.

Phone/Skype Sessions
It is the client’s responsibility to ensure a secure and reliable phone and/or internet connection during each session. Late or missed appointments due to technical difficulties will continue as scheduled. Coach reserves the right to switch between phone and Skype sessions for each appointment.

Contact Information
Client is responsible for providing email, phone, and Skype contact information so that the coach may reach the client for sessions. Have an alternate contact method ready in the event of failed communications networks.

Payment of training modules (aka Guide Packs) must be made in full before client can redeem them.

Legal Disclaimer
Coaching does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorders as defined by the American Psychiatric Association. Clients understand that coaching is not a substitute-for counseling, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mental health care or substance abuse treatment and will not use coaching in place of any form of diagnosis, treatment or therapy.

Coaching is not to be used as a substitute for professional advice by legal, medical, financial, business, spiritual, or other qualified professionals. Client will seek independent professional guidance for legal, medical, financial, business, spiritual, or other matters. Client understands that all decisions in theses areas and coaching work are exclusively their own and acknowledges that their decisions, actions, and results regarding them are the client’s responsibility.

Case Studies
Clients understand that certain topics may be anonymously and hypothetically shared with other coaching professionals for training OR consultation purposes. Subjects we discuss may end up in published articles.

Client has read, accepts and agrees to LJA Coaching policies and disclaimers. Engagement in coaching programs acts as an agreement to adhere to and follow coaching policies, partnership, and client commitments.

The Keys to a Great Coaching Experience

Coaching Is Not Therapy
It’s easy for clients to forget that Leslie is NOT a psychologist or psychiatrist. The goal of each coaching session is to determine the roadblocks that keep you from your goals, create solutions to overcome them, and to follow up with your progress. Leslie will not probe into your past without a specific training goal. Our goal is to accept the past and use our experiences in a constructive way to create a better future. If Leslie catches your dwelling too long on the past, she will interrupt you to keep our progress on track. If you delve too deeply into tangents, Leslie will stop you before we go too far to places we do not have time to discuss. Please do not be offended if Leslie stops you at any time. Your money and time should be used to its fullest potential. Leslie’s job is to make sure you use your energy and resources to your benefit.

Coaching Is a Collaborative Process
While Leslie will from time to time teach you about certain subject areas or offer her own experiences, remember that coaching is a collaborative process. Remember that Leslie will not always give you the answer you want or tell you what to do or how to do it.

Silence Is Golden
Take your time to think. Sometimes, we will face silence and that’s OK. Use the silence as a tool to think through your challenges and seek opportunities.

Slow Down
If you are an attorney, lecturer or executive this message is for you! Resist the urge to speed through our discussions. Take time to think before you speak, to contemplate questions that Leslie asks, and to participate in a two-way discussion. There is no right or wrong answer during coaching sessions, so enjoy the trusting environment to speak honestly and freely.

Expect To Create and Receive Homework
Sometimes, Leslie will give you either simple or difficult “homework” assignments or objectives to complete before your next session. Sometimes, Leslie calls these challenges. You can choose to either accept or modify the challenge, but you must be ready to accept challenges. Challenges test you and your abilities at each step of the coaching process. Leslie will also ask you from time to time what creative ways you can respond to different problems you face.

Surrender to the Unknown
Your career and life is full of unknown possibilities. While we may be working on specific goals and time frames together, external events and personal decisions create unexpected results – sometimes extending goal deadlines or changing them all together.

Do not worry about your “performance” or reaching a specific end. Instead, choose to embrace the unknown possibilities that come forward through the coaching process.

Get Uncomfortable
Growth happens when one is faced with difficult questions and challenges.
Accept that you will eventually be asked highly personal questions regarding your deepest, most private motivations.
Stretch your imagination, stay motivated to change your habits, and explore how you can think differently. You can feel assured to think and speak in a trusting and confidential environment.

The Coaching Partnership
The coaching partnership is a win-win approach in which client and coach plan the process together, communicate openly, and work cooperatively toward the ultimate accomplishment of overarching career goals.
The coaching partnership is based on agreed-upon ground rules, time frames, and specific goals and measures of success.
The focus of the coaching partnership is on using the client’s strengths and building the key competencies needed to achieve strategic career objectives.
A successful coaching partnership is guided by clear personal values, ethical guidelines, and experiences that establish the credibility of the coaching process and maintain the welfare of the client and those around them.

The coaching partnership uses tailored goals and approaches, including:
• Creation of a development plan
• Skill building
• Performance improvement
• Development for future assignments
• Exploration, definition, and implementation of objectives

The Coaching Process can, but need not necessarily include:
• Pre-coaching needs analysis and planning
• Contracting
• Data Gathering
• Goal Setting and development of coaching plan
• Implementation of coaching plan
• Measuring and reporting results
• Transitioning to long-term development

The coach applies several of the following practices, among others:
• Problem solving and planning
• Rehearsal (role playing)
• Feedback
• Dialogue
• Clarification of roles, assumptions and priorities
• Teaching and applying a variety of management and leadership tools
• Referral to other development resources

Coaching Agreement

This agreement between Leslie Inc. and client, as well as purchaser of “Guide Packs”.

The services to be provided by Coach to the Client are face-to-face coaching sessions or telecoaching, as designed jointly with the client, supplemented as needed and agreed upon by both parties with e-mail communications. Coaching, which is not advice, therapy, or counseling, may address personal and business projects, goals, and issues of life balance, business successes, or general conditions in the client’s life or profession. Other coaching services or activities may include values clarification, brainstorming, personal as pertaining to behavioral strategic planning, and work on perspective in order to broaden the client’s understanding of the choices the client faces. Coaching may involve all areas of a client’s personal and professional life,

Coaching does not include the rendering of psychotherapeutic advice or services, and no therapist-client relationship is created or implied by this contract. Coaching does not involve either the diagnosis of mental illness or its treatment. It is not a substitute for professional counseling, psychotherapy, treatment for addiction issues or therapy of any kind. If the client is currently in therapy, your therapist must be made aware that you are a coaching client as well as a therapy client.

Coaching does not include business strategy consulting and Leslie Inc and Leslie Juvin-Acker is not responsible or liable for personal and business decisions made by the coaching client and his/her employer. All outcomes are the sole responsibility and liability of the client and his/her employer.

Clients understand that certain topics may be anonymously and hypothetically shared with other coaching professionals for training or consultation purposes. Subjects we discuss may end up in published articles with identifying information redacted. In order to honor and protect the Coach’s intellectual property, the Client likewise agrees not to disclose or communicate any information about the coach’s practice, materials, or methods to any third parties.

Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this agreement, or the breach of this agreement, shall be settled by arbitration, which will occur by an arbitrator mutually agreed upon by the Coach and Client. The non-prevailing party shall pay to the arbitrator all costs and expenses, expressly including, but not limited to, reasonable arbitration fees and costs incurred by the arbitration process.

In the event of any legal dispute, litigation or arbitration between the parties, the non-prevailing party shall pay to the prevailing party therein all costs and expenses, expressly including, but not limited to, reasonable attorney’s fees and costs incurred therein by such successful party.

Each party agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the other party and its agents, officers, and employees from and against any and all liability expense, including defense costs and legal fees incurred in connection with claims for damages of any nature whatsoever, including but not limited to, bodily injury, death, personal injury, financial or business losses, or property damage arising from such party’s performance or failure to perform its obligations hereunder.

The parties agree the Coach is not a guarantor or insurer and that it would be extremely difficult and impractical to fix actual damages to Client, if any, from Coach’s failure to perform. Therefore, if Coach is found liable for any loss or damage under this agreement, Coach’s liability shall be solely and completely limited to the total payment(s) made for the program in which the Client is currently receiving services.

By signing below, the Coach and the Client agree to keep these agreements and appointments; the Client agrees to keep the Coach informed as to what is needed to keep the process moving forward.
